The sprinkler is on watering the garden and the washing machine is scrubbing away. The little fellow is in bed and we are relaxing!
Yesterday morning we left Bigfork after picking up my last photo CD and reclaiming the camera card. We saw "hot springs" on the map and were enticed to stop with fond memories of our hot spring visits in New Zealand. Not the same... But our little fellow was thrilled to pieces with the merry-go-round. You don't see them around here anymore. So after getting some wiggles out, we pushed on.
Next stop; "treasure hunting" as Nikolas likes to term geocaching. We had mapped out 5 caches that were all in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area. Picked up a travel bug to bring back home. Exchanged presents at our first cache on Tubbs Hill which we made Nikolas wait until he got to the car to open. Schlepted Nikolas up and down a few hilly parts for the 2nd Tubbs Hill cache and got stung by a bee at our 4th and final cache of the day (we decided the 5th wasn't worth getting back in the car for). We came home with a few more cars! Seems to be the treasure of choice for Nikolas!
We arrived in Spokane just in time for dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory; holds special memories for Michael and I as it was one of the first restaurants we ever ate at together (in Kentucky). The trolley car that we sat in captivated Nikolas' wanning interest and kept him occupied enough to get us through dinner. And then all things went DOWNHILL. Fast!
We thought we had a rough trip making our way West... It was worse coming home. I think he was so excited about getting back on an airplane that he couldn't sleep. He was up 2 hours earlier than the already obnoxious hour that we had to get up! The tantrums he threw at the airport!... Oh my! Fortunately he fell asleep for most of the first flight. Whined through the layover in Denver and was so so on the trip to Chicago. Anyway, we're home again, safe and sound after a lovely vacation! Back to work tomorrow...
