Took the kids to the Lake in the Hills egg hunt today. With an 8 am kick off I thought that there would be less mayhem than our own... It was tough getting there that early. There might have been fewer people but there was still a sizable crowd. Just as well we went when we did as our local hunt got postponed by rain. We decided to take Nikolas after all when we opened our 10 egg limit to find that all but one egg had gum in it! He did, however, find the "bonus" prize. Hanging on the baseball field corner gate was the bounty; a basket of pirate dress up gear and some sweeties. Michael spotted it while we were waiting and instructed Nikolas to run as fast as he could. Mia was tickled pink just to hold the 2 eggs we picked up for her.
We are officially finished with breastfeeding... I had my first caffeinated cup of coffee this morning at the donut shop after the egg hunt. I slept in a T-shirt without a nursing bra last night. I'm wearing a real bra for the first time in 14 months. It's kind of strange. We mutually agreed that nursing is a thing of the past. I was tired of pumping more than anything. And I think she just wanted the independence of holding her own bottle and doing it the way she wants.
And so now, finally, I can do something about this chub that I'm hanging onto. Initially, I lost all the weight of pregnancy. And then I gained 10 pounds of it back. Painstakingly, I lost 3 pounds. And a week of not working out piled it all back on again. That myth of breastfeeding helping you to burn calories and keep the weight off didn't apply to me. I've been working out 4 days a week and I can't lose the weight. I received the bathing suits that I ordered for our cruise in August today... I need to get back on track. That miracle suit ain't performing much of a miracle, let me tell you!
We bought our tickets to Barcelona last night! There has been a spurt of back and forth with Tyler about hotels and other plans. The stacks of Italy, France and Spain travel books are weighing down my nightstand. It's four months away! It's April tomorrow!
