See that name I bolded and highlighted up above? That's me! I made the Design Team of my local scrapbook store! I've been so nervous about it. I've never "done" anything with my scrapbooking before other than have it laying around. I've never submitted anything for publication, I've never entered any contests, nothing of the sort. All for fear of rejection. I made it!
Took the kids to the zoo this morning. Livi and Tricia came to our house so we could all ride down there together, conserve gas and resources. It was a blast! Tricia's babysitter, Noelle, came along and was perfect company for Nikolas. We fed the giraffes! Ourselves. By hand. Well, Mia and I did. Nikolas is still rather wimpy pimpley about these things. It was really cool to see their long black tongues. I don't get how these animals aren't fat, being hand fed all day long. We had a little picnic and then took gondola rides, thanks Tricia! It was HOT but we had a grand time. I promise I'll post pics, I can't download them until I back up previous months to make room on the computer.
I don't really want to make a big deal of it. I really don't want to minimize the importance of other graduations down the road. But it's difficult. So we went; Michael and I rearranged our work schedules to be at Nikolas' Pre-K graduation. It was a cute little ceremony with mortar boards, full names and diplomas. They had sharpie pens to sign each other's caps with. He was proud. Go Nikolas! You did great kiddo, keep up the good work!
After nap time yesterday I took the kids to Kangaroo Jacks, a newly opened inflatables place. We met Loreen and Ethan there. The kids had a blast! It certainly beat the heat outside! It's cooling down but it's still hot. You certainly work up a sweat in there; bouncing here, there and everywhere. Even Little Girl found a ladder that she could climb herself with the end result of the whoosh down the slide. This last picture of Nikolas is of him doing his "Kung Fu Panda", you can't see the leg that is kicking the air. Over the weekend Michael and Grandma took him to see the aforementioned movie. Every time we would talk about said movie, I would do a karate type move. My Little Fellow has picked up on this is aping me now!
I have a feeling my summer is going to revolve around water, or should I say that it will splash around water?
Kris, Morgan and Devin came down for the afternoon to see Grandma while she's visiting. They brought their Wii with them and the kids had fun upstairs Wii'ing away. Even Mia was with them. Observing. Then after dinner we turned on the sprinkler and they ran around, chased each other around. Just had fun with each other. Four cousins, a hot, humid day and a sprinkler. What more could a kid want. Neither Morgan nor Devin wanted to leave. Neither Mia nor Nikolas wanted them to leave.
The heat here has been sweltering! Absolutely miserable... And, our poor AC has aged significantly, making it difficult to keep the house cool. We're doing our best. Some better than others. I, born and raised in the tropics, being the most feeble of the lot! Michael and Grandma took the kids to the neighborhood pool for the first time this season. Apparently, they had a blast! Mia, who has thus far been less than impressed with activities involving water, jumped right in. The kiddie pool is for the 5 and under set, Nikolas was the tallest kid there. Wednesday, while at Target, I spontaneously purchased a little Dora water sprinkler. Prompted by Michael, I bought two water guns for the kids as well. Nikolas had a good time spraying the play set, keeping it cool until he had his taken away for squirting Mia a second time in the face. Mia was a little "Ramboette" content just to carry hers around. It wasn't until Saturday afternoon that she became interested in the firing of the water... Our Little Girl is warming up to the water; she had a grand time alternating the various appendages that were isolated to watering. While Grandma, Michael and Nikolas went to church this morning, Mizzy Moo and I stayed back and took care of menial things like laundry and dishes. I unloaded the dishwasher while Mia did her vacuuming. All of her own accord. She ran (walking is not in her repertoire of activities) to the play room, grabbed her vacuum and brought over to the table muttering "gus-ting, Mia keen it". Yeah, well, girlie, most of that mess is yours! Everybody played a game of Hungry Hippos while dinner was being cooked. Even Mia got the hang of it, her first time playing.
... has gone to school today with her big girl panties on and a bag full of dry clothes and panties? Wednesday morning G-ma, Mia and I went to Target and made a big production of the purchase of her cotton lined panties. Wednesday on the walk to and from school to pick up Nikolas she wore them for the first time. She peed herself wet while sitting on G-ma's lap... Haven't used them since. But today, we are armed and ready! Off we go to the land free of diapers and Pull ups!
We have eaten a fair amount of birthday cake in the past few days. Even have some set aside to share with G'ma when she arrives. Was difficult to skip by doctor's question of "do you eat a little of each food group at every meal?" Well,.... not lately. Unless you consider the different types of cake we've been partaking in. But usually, yes. Note that in both pictures she is trying to hold two fingers out. Mia is one of two children in her class that doesn't have a family picture on the wall in her classroom. Her house is empty. Pathetic. Well we finally remediated that situation. Had Granny behind the camera and Ah Kong trying to get Mia to look at him within vicinity of the camera. This was the best one. Last Tball game of the season is tonight.
