Happy Schmurkey-Day (at least that is what it is called this year in this house). Four days of cooking for four days of eating. I'm thankful that we are leaving this evening. So only one day of turkey for us. Maybe two if we play our cards right and get to take leftovers home, so we don't have to cook tomorrow.
Our menu: Parmesan crusted parsnips, drunken sweet potatoes (Brandied Candied Sweet Potato), some kind of brussel yucks (Roasted Lemon Brussel Sprouts), smashed potatoes, carrot soup, Stuffing, Stuffing, Stuffing (at least that many servings of stuffing), cranberry-orange relish, and a delicious whole-foods brine crusted michael cooked turkey. (it really did taste best straight off the bird, before hitting the cutting board, although not so bad off the plate, either). And then the pies, which we had to eat after nap time to ensure we had room for all the pies: some kind of cranberry (Granny's Nantucket Cranberry pie), pumpkin, and burbon chocolate pecan. My son just ate whipped cream, and wanted seconds.
This is Marina, Suzanna's sister blogging. My son, Sebastien has been excited about coming down to Auntie Zanna's house since we told him that is where we would go to eat turkey. We walked in the door and he went straight to the train table. I'm not sure what he enjoys more, his cousins or all the new toys. It could be possible, that he enjoys both. Granny and Ah Kong are visiting as well. So lots of people around to keep the kids busy. that is reason to celebrate right there! It is nice to see the cousins playing nicely together, which is not always the case: playing together and playing nicely.
After the dishes were done from the first round of turkey, the christmas tree came out and the music was turned on! Not kidding. but this might have been at my instigation. I brought down Christmas presents (too cheap to ship this year).
This is Michael....Happy Thanksgiving!
This is Me... We cooked for all of you this year. Was kind of disappointed you didn't show up. Literally, I cooked for the thousands. And their families. Was a scrumdiddlyuptous meal! Have to give Michael his due too and say he did a spectacular job with schmurkey! The crockpot is already brewing away with the carcass!
The baby, by the way, is NOT mine! He is Tristan, my sister's youngest and newest member. Just in case you were wondering. Thought I'd clarify.
Hope you had a wonderful turkey day!
