Nikolas had the day off today. Off from school but not from slogging the trails looking for caches! He wanted to go caching, we went caching! Took off after dance/gymnastics with Mia and crossed the river and went to two spectacular parks; Osborne Landing and Dutch Gap Conservation Area.
Osborne Landing first. First things first, the cache. Mia had an American Girl doll book from a Happy Meal that she was dying to deposit! A little splash in and around the James River before heading to the best part of the park; the playground. The real reason we came out this way. Heard about the park through my friend Loreen and we had to check out the climbing wall! Fabulous as they were, more desirable was the water table feature and the climbing structure that had sand scoops and tubes with which to deposit sand.
Saturday we went to the Bottom for Burning up the Bottom. Twenty or so fire engines from various neighboring counties of various vintages and functions paraded down 17th street. The kids had a grand time checking out the fire engines and waving at them as their sirens wailed. Nikolas had his ears covered the while time! Again proving who my my more timid child is. Mia was 100% into the ear piercing sirens and waving with gusto! Wrapped off our outing with CityDogs for lunch. Nothing better than a Chicago style hot dog! Or so they tell me.
House is on... I'll edit pictures another time. You'll have to make do with verbage this time! Edit; I'm back. I edited pics while I watched... They probably aren't as great as I would like but they'll do for you for now.
