... to look a lot like Christmas! Though Thanksgiving is only a couple of days behind, we decorated today. We decked the halls, hung the lights and had a festive, good time! The weather was perfect for being outdoors, climbing ladders and hanging lights; just cold enough but not too hot either. The kids occupied themselves with basketball and sidewalk chalk while we went about the lights.
We all partook of hot chocolate and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for snack mid afternoon. Mini marshmallows and all! The kids' beverage in mugs that Grandma sent and the adult's had Nikolas made mugs. We sat on our front porch, admiring our handiwork and devouring our snacks!
Moving inside we erected the tree and spread and fluffed the branches before tucking into turkey noodle soup a la crockpot with a side of Daddy made Grandma rolls. Yummy! Put all the unused in, including fennel. Never (knowingly) had fennel in turkey soup before, not bad.
The decorations were hung and the tree topper carefully placed by Mizzy Moo. All the while, Christmas music helped set the tone for our evening. Mia couldn't refrain from being a ballerina, pirouetting around the living room. I was asked how one plies!... Uh... Well... You're asking the wrong person!
The stockings were hung on the mantle. The nativity scene was re-created in front of the fire place and the story told. Then a bed time story on the couch with Dad.
What a grand old day, decorating, being family, having fun! Love it!
I can't really share the pictures. Well, let me re-phrase that; I am not going to share the pictures. I am using them for my Christmas card this year. The letter is in outline form awaiting composition. We are well underway in our preparations for December and the birth of baby Jesus!
