I have THE best friend in the whole wide world. And she has the most creativity and ingenuity of anybody I know. Friday afternoon Loreen invited us over for a play date; the venue of the PlayDOlympics. My kids had prior knowledge of this event and were thrilled to pieces! She went all out. The event was initiated with a warm up even! This was then followed by three events; the tallest structure, the most food looking representations in 5 minutes and the longest item. She made gold, silver and bronze medals which she presented at a medal podium! A total blast!
Thursday was the 101st day of school. The first grade teachers decided to celebrate 101 instead of the customary 100 as they thought that a 101 Dalmatian theme would be more fun, add a little variety. The children were invited to wear black and white. We had fun making a headband with ears and putting spots on a shirt for the occasion. That same day, Nikolas took in the latest of his homework projects; a bag buddy. This buddy is Sam from "The Library Mouse", his latest favorite book.
Later that afternoon there was enough of a wind that we decided to take the kite out for an airing. The field at school was rather muddy so Mia walked around with her pants hiked up to her hips the whole time. Nikolas and I were able to get a few good soarings out of the kite but for the most part the wind was consistently blowing enough to keep it up in the sky. We had fun and got all good and muddy!
