Another early get up this morning, this one earlier in fact. Sainte Chapelle opened at 9am and we figure a half hour wait pre-opening is fair. We were about tenth in line thanks to the fine mist and occasional drizzle.
Unfortunately the front, left wall of the upper chapel is covered with scaffold due to repairs, elegant though the scaffold may be, it is still ver obtrusive... Detracts from the grandeur and beauty one anticipated. If you turn your back to it and ignore the massive structure, yes, there is much to oogle. Pity that there wasn't more light... I imagine it brilliant when the sun is shining. Clearly, given my second winter visit to Paris, not something I will see!!
Next stop, the roof top of Notre Dame with my Dad. The line was half way down the cathedral shortly before 10am, when these doors opened, and we joined it. An hour later and we began our ascent! Not quite as eventful as my last visit and certainly less slippery but still breath taking. Though no blue sky pictures, the mist and fog with the gargoyles are a sight!
Hunger pangs setting in, we hopped on the Metro to have lunch on the roof of Print Temps. Pushed past the first and only roast chestnuts I have seen so far as lunch had priority! Lunch with a view! Couldn't see the top of Eiffel Tower for long but still impressive!
Then a brief poke around some of the most expensive shopping imaginable before heading home; Rina and WrinkLee's to her abode and me my quiet little chateau!
The plan tonight, once again, is Pompidou... We clearly didn't make it there last night. It's now or never at this point...
