With school beginning in a few days, signaling the end of summer for us, there has been little time to scrap. Just minutes stolen here and there. And those minutes here and there didn't add up to competing this in time for the deadline. I thought I'd share it anyway as I'm pleased with the end result. I used one of the August Lily Bee sketches, the July 3 Scrappy Boys main kit (full of Lily Bee goodies) and some extra goodness to create this layout.
I turned what was really an 8.5 x 11 sketch or card sketch into a 12 x 12 as that's the size layout that these pictures would best be seen on. I used fewer squares but kept the same overall "shape" as the sketch suggested.
I wanted to use lace on the layout as what wedding layout can be completed without lace and tulle?! I had this really handy stamp from a previous Lily Bee line that I used to make my own lace washi tape. I put white tissue paper on a 3/4 inch wide stripe of Scor Tape and then stamped the lace with a matching color ink (from Quick Quotes). I fussy cut the edge and voila! Matching, custom made washi!
You should have seen the number of packets of Thickers that I had piled on my desk trying to figure out which one I (a.) had enough remaining letters for and (b.) matched the space and colors! There were a few options but I settled for this because I wanted the flow of the style and glitter for the festive feel.
Anybody recognize that brad? It's an OLD Making Memories brad that has been sitting in my stash for ages upon ages. It might soon be considered a scrapbooking antique!! Alright, perhaps it's not that old but it has been there a long time. I really like them. It's one of those products that has stood the test of time in my stash and is used sparingly.
What have you been up to this weekend? It's a long, holiday weekend here in the US. The final weekend before school starts!! Hope you have some scrappy time!
