Dropping in today to share with you an "eclectic" layout. Eclectic because it's not a design team layout but rather, my "little of this, some of that, a splash of this" smattering of carefully selected, coordinating bits and pieces layouts. The type of layout I love to construct when not creating for DT assignments. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my design teams, it's an absolute honor. There is something about not having coordinating this and that that comes with design team work however.
This is very loosely based on a sketch from Stuck Sketches! It's been a while since I've created using a Stuck sketch. The tags off to the right side just didn't work here. Funnily enough, they were what drew me to this sketch. I tried and scrapped them, opting for the big star and Teresa Collins banner instead.
I also used the free star background download from Juliana Michaels as part of my background. I shrunk it a tad to make it fit on my layout without overpowering the other "bits". Thanks Juliana for an awesome file! The background stars set the recurrent theme for the layout with a sprinkling on the journal block, a couple of chipboard buttons and a couple of others strategically placed.
The interesting thing about this layout to me is that I used Christmas colors and Christmas elements though it's not really about Christmas. Theoretically, we were still in the Christmas period, January 3rd, the king's hadn't arrived yet. Shy of his Christmas jammies that he's wearing, there is nothing Christmas about this. The layout is about Nikolas' obsession with Minecraft... Huh...
I am trying to make my titles more interesting. I filed some layouts the other day (out of necessity, not desire!) and as I looked back over previous creations, I was disappointed by how mundane and un-inspiring my titling was. Not a bad start me thinks.
Thanks for stopping by today!
What a fun page - how cool that you played with green and red, but it isn't a Christmas layout, per se. Thanks for playing along with us at Stuck?! sketches.

Gorgeous, loving all the details, that multi font title is awesome the red and greens are fresh versions that play so well off of each other the way you are using them. I totally know what you mean about creating a layout with a little of this a little of that, it just puts an extract bit of fun factor into a project! Thank you for joining us at Stuck?!
