It's summer. We long for adventure, things to do. It's a tougher bill to fill when Mum and Dad are working and the tallest order of the day is for two hours at the pool... We try. But mostly it's confined to weekends and the odd week that we manage to escape.
And then you find a quote such as this that reminds you, you don't always have to go somewhere to have fun. Though, being on those sand dunes in Michigan sure IS fun. A lot of work too! Ali Edwards has this and other such inspirational quotes which you can download for free on her blog. She has a weekly thing on Sunday's which she calls "Give Sunday" which is a quote in her handwriting that she is giving away.
While scrapping with a friend the other day, I learned this really awesome technique for applying mist! I used it for the first time here. You spray mist onto "slick" surface such as the clear packaging of a kit or Thickers. Then you kind of rub the color over your cardstock. I had a really dark brown and knew I wanted it diluted so thinned the color out with water. Normally, I would do this before creating the layout but this was an after thought for me. Turned out pretty cool, me thinks.
You can see too, that in addition to the smooshes of color, I used a brush pen to add some color to highlight or emphasize two of the words in the quote. That Adventure tab is a pull tab for a PL card that has the journaling of my story. Again, as I've mentioned before, it's not that I don't care for you to read it so much as, it's distracting. I am trying to include more than a sentence and do the whole experience justice. Writing more and not having it be distracting is best suited by hidden journaling.
Life sure is good on the lake, Lake Michigan. Lake Michigan will always be near and dear to Michael and I as that's where we were engaged and had originally planned having our wedding.
And that, is my Ali Edward/Bella Blvd layout my friends. I hope you enjoyed it! See you soon!
You had me at "Lake Michigan", LOL!
Great page and awesome how you used the printable and the mists and colors! The colors and patterns in the paper are perfect! TFS!
(I grew up on the Illinois/WI border and spent most days at the lake with my sister and our friends. It is something I miss being 30 miles West of the lake, but something I enjoy thinking about. So cool that you and your hubby got engaged there! It really is a great place to be!)
