Just popping in today to share another January Cocoa Daisy layout with you. Today's layout is an example of Anna's Designers Challenge to journal around the edges. You can find more details of that HERE.
This layout is about my One Little Word for the year. I don't create new years resolutions. I fail miserably at those and feel that I set myself up for disappointment. Instead, I like the idea of a little word that becomes a "guiding principle" of sorts. I chose the word purpose; to live my life with purpose, act with purpose. That is the theme of this layout.
Those of you who know me and my style know that I struggle with journaling. While I really want the story told and the little details remembered (my poor ol brain needs that memory jog), I find that journaling is distracting to the design elements. I often hide my journaling. That said, this made for a tough challenge for me... By making my journaling a design element, around the pocket card, I was able to conquer this challenge! You can see how, rather than use the thin black pen around the edge of the pocket card as I did on the card with the picture of me on it, I mimicked that look with the journaling.
Isn't that confetti paper on the right that I used for my background great?! That is a Cocoa Daisy exclusive! When you subscribe to Cocoa Daisy kits there are many exclusives that come with it, including patterned paper! The pen wood veneer is another Cocoa Daisy. I love that it's a thin veneer that doen't protrude like a sky scrapper from my page! Be sure to check out Cocoa Daisy kits! The reveal of the February kit is in a mere 7 days!!
That's a neat idea for keeping the journaling part of the design; and a great word to be guided by this year.i can see that it could be very good at helping with focus and priorities (not that you have ever struck me as someone who needs help with those!).
