I have been trying to use my Cocoa Daisy kits to document current occurrences and events that have happened recently rather than waiting ages and ages and not remember the emotion of the story, never mind the factual details. One of the benefits of "staying current" is that you document right away, before the memory fades.
Today I am sharing with you a layout I created of a very recent event; one of our four snow days thanks to Winter Storm Jonas. I used the sketch Challenge that is up at Cocoa Daisy with my February kit for this.
I stayed rather literal with the sketch with the 3 pictures across the top, the tag, the pocket card that melds into the background, etc.. I even journaled across the bottom of the page. My only obvious variance is the modeling paste snowfall on the right hand side of the page.
I love the script writing on that 6x4 piece of patterned paper that was part of the paper add on of the Cocoa Daisy kit. The problem with it is that the very vibrant colors are very eye catching, not something I wanted with the somewhat muted, monochromatic page. A little gesso fixed things nicely along with a smidge of Peerless watercolor along the top for a hint of color.
The add on stickers this month were a must have! While I love the plethora of die cuts that came with the main kit, I like having lots of little embellies to choose from and the puffy stickers can always be used well beyond with the kit. As always, the Cocoa Daisy stamps are sublime too. The like and dislike stamps will come in handy both for layouts and in my planner.
That, my friends is my creative share for the day today. Be sure to visit the Cocoa Daisy blog to see how the other ladies interpreted this sketch and play along. There is $5 to spend at the Cocoa Daisy store up for grabs to one random winner. You don't have to use Cocoa Daisy goodies to play along but I know if you had the kits, you would get a ton of scrapping done! Christine has done a ton of work coordinating amazing product and the exclusives are like no other!
