I can't believe that is a few precious days, we will be mid-way through October! In 5 days my grumpy teenager celebrates his 14th birthday! Argh!! Slow down the clock!
Today I have another Cocoa Daisy layout to share with you, this is a rather non-traditional Halloween layout that I created using the October City Park kits including the exclusive subscriber digital/cut and print and cut files, a DITL (Day In the Life) card and one of the exclusive papers. I truly love the unique spin on kits that Christine puts together with the exclusives. Not everybody likes that but I really love having something different than what everybody else is using on their projects. I also love putting a different spin on how to use those things. Like the cut files on this layout.
To create the cut file that I used for the background, I resized the original chevron pattern in various sizes in Silhouette Studio. I shifted the alignments here and there so that they weren't all even then welded them together. A few of the "openings" I backed with the single color patterned papers. There is no rhyme or reason to it, I just stuck it and moved on. Then I machine stitched through the center of each chevron anchoring the background tone on tone to my cardstock.
You can see how I used those files much better here in the close up picture. I am really pleased with the splashes of color here and there and how the three colors really make the purple in the picture pop.
Poor Belle!... LOL!! She really was a good sport about her rather indignant situation which I journaled about on the DITL card. I struggled with this DITL card as both side were equally appealing to me! I ultimately went with this side as I knew if I didn't journal on the card, I would be dis-pleased with any other spot that might by necessity have to otherwise house the story. I tried to make the title of the layout "This is My Not Happy Halloween", hoping that you would figure out the top of the t was akin to a carrot without actually using a carrot.
Be sure to swing by the Cocoa Daisy blog HERE and see the other Fall and Halloween projects a couple of the other designers have to share with you this month!
Happy Fall Y'all! Thanks for stopping in today!
That's very nifty work with the chevrons and the stitching - looks wonderful.
