A bit of a break from the December Daily for a regular scrapbook page this time, this one created based on the December sketch over at Cocoa Daisy. I used my December kits for this layout. You don't have to use Cocoa Daisy goodies to play and you have the chance of winning a Cocoa Daisy voucher to the store so I encourage you to play along! You can find the sketch on the blog HERE along with all the details and examples that other ladies on the design team created.
I rotated the sketch, removed the circle and added a few more photos. In other words, my layout looks nothing like the sketch! Yup, that's the way it is with me. My sketch inspired layouts either look just like the sketch or are far from, from one extreme to the other.
I just love my cut files and the Cocoa Daisy subscriber exclusives are no exception! These lovely sprigs poking out here and there along the vertical strip of photos is so fun and festive. While this is very much a December "occurence" (we were at the Gaylord hotel), the colors aren't characteristic of this time of year. It was actually refreshing to use something different for a change.
Aren't those oversized vellum letters fantastic? I initially had them overlapping much more and the depths of the color from the overlap was much more stricking! It was difficult to read them with and with the tall height of the letters. You really needed squat, fatter letters to get the look I was going for. The little bits of light and dark are still neat, just not quite the look it could have achieved. And that wood veneer that starts the title is a unique to Cocoa Daisy. I really love that there is such character in these kits.
I do have a process video of this layout. It has yet to be edited and voiced over unfortunately. How this layout evolved is actually quite interesting as what is see is a far cry from its inception. I am hoping to be able to finish it some time soon but with two big championship meets this weekend and the upcoming holidays, I'm not so sure I can squeak that in. I'll try!
