Still no December Daily updates to share with you, sorry. I'm having fun just playing with my scrappy goodies. I was messing around with a picture that I took specifically with my December Daily in mind as I was addressing this years Christmas card and this layout kind of happened.
A mix of Bella Blvd's CHRISTmas collection and two cut files from The Cut Shoppe; the free mistletoe file that can be found HERE and The Write on Alphabet. While I was quite keen on the alpha as a cut file, I was drawn to mess around with the sketch pen options and really liked the artistic spin that this took. It's different and I like different. The mistletoe is just duplicates of the file cut in two different shimmery papers that I overlapped for a fun bit of movement on the page. The gold layer really compliments the wood desk top that I was working on in the photo.
I also doodled on this page! Gasp! I know, quite a bit of experimentation on my part! And all on one layout, none the less. One of the patterned papers in the CHRISTmas collection is rows of those little black doodled hearts with a few of them filled in as I've done randomly through out the layout. I just used some Faber-Castell PITT artist pens and a very find American Crafts Precision Pen (03) to draw the outline of the heart.
It was nice to add the green to the mix of colors that I'm scrapping Christmas with as my December Daily doesn't incorporate green as one of the main colors. I hope that the veneer trees stand up okay at the bottom of the page. I worry that they might take a bit of a beating so close to the corner as the album pages are turned. We will have to see how that works out.
Those of you who know me know my beef with journaling... I love it, I love having the story but I find it incredibly distracting when sprawled across my pretty creation. Yes, I have problems. Many of them! This one was easily overcome with the envelope that I tucked in behind the picture; fitting for a Christmas card themed layout, don't you think? Simple open the envelope and pull where it says pull to reveal the journaling. Once the page is placed in an album, I'll cut a slit in the page protector enabling easy reach of the story.
I definitely need to play around some more with the sketch pen functions on the Cameo after enjoying the results on this layout!
Your mistletoe and little trees are a great festive touch - very cleverly done! Playing with paper and interesting goodies sounds a nice way to have passed December.
