This past weekend I was cleaning out the scrap nook; deconstructing a years worth of Cocoa Daisy kits and filing away patterned paper scraps that I had tossed into a pile for other creative endeavors. It was getting tough to find anything and I decided it was time to organize. In the process of shuffling, I was afforded the ability to rejuvenate my stash! I created mini-kits from the deconstructed kits and was quickly able to create 3 layouts from these re-purposed kits.
I had this photo collage of Mia and her chicken pillow sitting on my desk with a couple of other pictures and thought that the black and white floral from Pink Paislee would be perfect with the pink floral from Paige Evans/Pink Paislee. From there I had the Dream and "love you" tag that came from a Maggie Holmes ephemera pack and the buttons from a Cocoa Daisy kit that were necessary compliments. It all just came together into little piles as I pulled things apart and re-organized.
I created a YouTube video to share my creative process with you if you would like to see the inner workings of my thought processes as I created.
I did cut one of the flowers on camera and then did the other two off camera. I have made a conscious effort of speeding up my videos and editing out the "uhhhh.... what next moments". If you have feedback on the length of videos, please do comment. I'm a fan of constructive feedback and would love to make you, the viewer, happy.
I have yet to journal the story of these pictures. I think I will do so and put the paper in the glassine bag which is nestled behind the pictures. You have long learned that I am not one to leave myself exposed with my story out there. In part, these aren't my stories really but theirs. I don't feel it is my right to leave those stories for the world to see. I also feel that the journaling can be a distraction to the creative integrity of the layout. And hence the constant hidden journaling. It won't take long for my two to figure out that they have to search for the story behind the picture, on the back of the layout, somewhere out of sight.
That acrylic heart from Color Cast Designs!! Just perfect on this page! And made the putting of the bulky buttons far less distressing to me than it normally would have been. I'm not one for the bulk in page protectors or the impression left on the opposing page... At least, I wasn't. I am growing. I am learning to expand my boundaries and let go of some of my scrappy quirks! The look on the page is worth the bulk! Are you bulk-ophobic too? Have you had to overcome that fear? What convinced you that it was worth using all those fun bits despite their depth on the page?
Don't forget to dream big! Thanks for stopping in today and have a great BIG day!
