It's a new month and therefore a new sketch challenge is up on the Cocoa Daisy blog today! For a change, I'm not hosting but it is my sketch! I used a layout I created of Nikolas' super socks that he wore on the aircraft carrier in the SC harbor two summers ago as the inspiration for this sketch. It was fun to use small photos and a large title!
Here's the sketch;
And here's what I came up with;
And, because I'm getting really into this process video stuff, here's how the layout came together from my YouTube channel. If you don't already subscribe, I would love you to join me on this little adventure. It's funny how it all comes together. I really struggled with the video thing at first. If you follow my work at all, you know I dragged my feet long and heavy over the whole YouTube thing. Now I don't know how to create a layout without the video recording! LOL! Still not a fan of the voice over and now I need to improve that part of the video but, I do enjoy sharing my thinking with y'all.
I stuck pretty firm to the sketch by using the 6 squares; 3 pictures and 3 patterned paper squares, and the large title spot. I did use a Day In The Life card as a journaling spot in the middle of my title. I knew my title wasn't going to be so "large" and thus thought the journaling card would fill that space nicely. This month's planner add on stamp set is AWESOME!!!! I collect alphabet stamp sets, I admit it. I love them! They make me happy! This is no exception!
I created a few of the digital die cut files that are available to subscribers this month! It was only fitting that I use them. I left a few white for a fun white on white effect. The other two I used my Peerless watercolors and some Shimmerz to add a pop of pink to contrast the lovely, bright blue of the Cocoa Daisy exclusive patterned paper. I used one side of the paper for the header, the clouds. The back side of that same paper was the footer, or the waves.
Lots of the subscriber exclusive print and cut files made it into this layout as well. That's the great thing about Cocoa Daisy, you can't get it anywhere, it's custom made for our subscribers! And judging by the rate that the kits sell out lately, Christine is doing a great job making people happy!
That's it from me for the day! I hope you are inspired to play along with the sketch challenge! It's fun as the sketch is not your usual grid or using your usual size pictures or title! A bit of spice in your scrappy day, might I say?! Thanks for popping in today!
