Hey scrappy peeps! Our guest designer this month over at SpiegelMom Scraps is Kelly Barron and on the third week of every month, we are scraplifting our guest designer. Kelly created this layout for Cocoa Daisy back when we were on the team together and it is the inspiration for my layout this week.
Based on that layout I created this using some goodies from Simple Stories as well as bits and pieces of sequins mixes from SpiegelMom Scraps;
In place of the rubs on that Kelly used, I used sequins. I mixed and matched colors from "Fairy Garden" and "Salt of the Earth" in order to find colors that complimented the color palate I was working with. I love how the sparkle and shimmer from the sequins compliments the gold elements I used.
Once upon a time I designed for Simple Stories and had all these goodies left over. I love the way the colors of the photo stand out against the colors in these combined collections. Usually, when creating a project for SpiegelMom Scraps, I coordinate my papers with sequins ahead of time. I had no idea with this particular layout if I even had colors that would work. I just went with the flow and freely created with just Kelly's layout as my guide.
I love this little cluster of goodies that balance out the weight of the picture. It took some doing to get the balance and figuring out how to layer the vertical strips as that is not something that is typically found on my pages. The way that the flowers pop of the page in a similar fashion to the way sequins don't sit flat on a page is a fun and accidental compliment.
I have a process video over on the SpiegelMom Scraps YouTube channel that I am sharing here with you! If you don't subscribe to the SpiegelMom scraps channel, I would love for you to join us. You can find my videos over there three Thurday's over every month.
Thanks for stopping in today! Take care!
