Today is Nikolas' 8th birthday!
8? ! Eight? ! Agghhh! Really? Stop the train, let me off! Eight years ago today this tall, lanky young man entered the world. Our first born. Crazy. Insane... Granny and Ah Kong are here to celebrate, as they have been for all eight of his birthdays. After mass this morning we came home and opened presents and had birthday cupcakes for morning snack. Nerf guns, books, DS games, Lego, money, what more could a fellow ask for? Nikolas carefully chose each and every cupcake with everyone having one chosen especially for them. Yum, yum, delicious.

This was followed by several rounds of Nerf tag outside. The weather is perfect! Ah Kong was a good sport and played the first round of Nerf tag after a brief tutorial on the ins and outs of Nerf guns. Michael followed suit. Mia ran around trying to help, as only little sisters can do, but doing nothing other than being a potential obstacle. A grand time was had by all! Fortunately Ah Kong caught on quickly to Nerf tag and didn't suffer the abuse he did whilst trying to figure out Wii skiing!

We have another house guest visiting, in addition to the WrinkLee's. My friend Kyla has gone on a cruise and we were thrilled to be asked to cat-sit. We prepped the kids for days and Mia inquired for days when Vincent would be arriving. And since his arrival, has been in and out of the laundry room checking on her visitor. Vincent lives in an apartment with his Mum thus the transition from that cozy scenrio to our house, with kids and 2 additional visitors has been a tad difficult for the poor cat. Something that has greatly concerned Mia. We are making headway; Vincent sat on my lap as we napped on the couch this afternoon.
Yesterday was our neighborhood Fall Fest. Another event that Granny and Ah Kong have been present for as long as we have been attending. This year was, by far, the nicest weather we've had for the festivities. Crisp enough to require cooler weather clothing but not so cold that your nose and hands freeze. Premiering this year amongst the inflatables was a giant laser tag house. Nikolas spent a good half hour in line, waiting for his turn. He says it was worth the wait. Mia and I went and did other things with her friend Maia.
