Sketch Support 2pg

Another layout up on Sketch Support today. This one is using the latest (and greatest) 2 page sketch, #24.

I went "hybrid" again with this layout. A few of the embellies are digital elements that I printed out and punched with my circle punches. The journal spot is an Echo Park digital element that I printed and fussy cut.

That Canvas Corps canvas fringe was just the right finishing touch for this layout!! The zig zag stitching added some movement across the page too. The 2010 circle is an Ormolu digital element that I color sampled from the blue on the journal spot and used a color overlay on.

I had to use last years pictures for this layout as we have yet to have any snow in Richmond this year!! The "winter" weather hasn't been very winter around these parts... It's been very depressing to the kids who keep asking and praying for snow.

Sketch Support January Card Sketch

Nope, it's not a card. Yet again. Come on now, y'all! You know I'm just not a card making kind of gal! It's just not my thing. I love the sketch! As always, Allison has a fantastic sketch up at Sketch Support this week. It's card week. A lot of the other Creative Team ladies have made layouts too, it's not just me. If you haven't already been inspired yet, head on over and download the sketch! There is some FABULOUS work over there. The new ladies are really showing us "old"er ladies a thing or two! LOL!!

I loved the stamps from Unity and was totally inspired to incorporate them into my layout when I first saw this sketch in my inbox. With some Coredinations, of course!! And the LYB! It just all fits so perfectly!!

Love the bling as the "lines" from which to dangle my snowflakes! That bling came from the wrapping department at The Container Store a few weeks ago! I immediately spotted it and set it on my scrappy desk! Wrapping?! Pffftt! Waste such good product on something that will get ripped off and barely acknowledged only to end up in the garbage when it can be drooled over and stared at longingly on a scrapbook page?! That's what I'm talking about!

Sketch Support Dec 1 pg, Part 2

Another take on the sketch that I shared earlier in the week from Sketch Support! If you haven't already swung by, be sure to visit Sketch Support to print off the latest single page sketch.

This time I flipped the sketch 90 degrees to the left so that the stripes run horizontal instead of vertical. Again, I still have the circle elements but not connected to the "strings". I had originially thought of make the stitched lines waves and omitting the circles but there wasn't enough room at the bottom of the layout.

These pictures are from early on in Nikolas' swimming career, back when he was just beginning at NOVA. He really struggled with the mechanics of breaststroke (hence my nickname "Motor Moron") and we had him in special one on one clinics with coach Lisa. This is when we began with the stretching. Not only couldn't he master the mechanics but he just didn't have the calf flexibility to get his feet into the right position.

Tomorrow is New Years Eve... Insane how quickly the year passed us by! Hope you have a safe and happy New Years!!

Sketch Support Dec 1 pg, Part 1

My first of two projects is up at Sketch Support today. This week is the one-page week. Yet another fantastic sketch!Be sure to check out the sketch and everybody else's creations on the blog HERE.

Sadly, this week marks not only the end of another wonderful year but also, the end of Sketch Supports first term for those of us on the Creative Team. Many of us have been fortunate to be given the opportunity to stay on but there are some talented ladies that are leaving. Thank you everybody, especially Allison, for a fantastic year!!

Kind of? I definitely followed the sketch, it was the inspiration behind this layout. But with a very different end result! You can see the background layers are there. And the left most poinsetta is one of the ornaments. Then extrapolate from there!!

These pictures were taken Christmas of 2009!! I still have a difficult time believing that, but that's what is printed on the back with the little date stamp thingy the photo machines have... Our favorite place in the world is that much more special at Christmas during the Festival of Lights! We didn't have an opportunity to get family pictures there this year. But we did go! This year we actually paid to go and were there for the lighting ceremony.

Anyhoo... I hear from my husband that he too is having commenting problems... Anybody else? I suppose you can't comment if you're having problems, eh? I will have to go in again this afternoon and fiddle with the settings, hopefully that will resolve some issues. Though, given the length of time of this inconvenience, I suspect it will take longer. I apologize. Hopefully in the new year!!

 

Sketch Support Dec Add-On

I LOVE this add-on!! If you haven't already popped on over to Sketch Support, you MUST. You can download Allison's latest and greatest add-on HERE and have a fun play! I know it's December and Christmas is around the corner but there is always inspiration over at Sketch Support which will get the creativity juices flowing in no time! Have a peek, you know you want to!

Allison's sketch called for paper and ribbon. I had this felt sitting on my desk screaming at me to be used. Use me! I will look fabulous as a Christmas tree! Use me please!! Yes, my scrappy stuff talks to me. And yes, I talk back to it! LOL!

Poor angel became a mist casualty... She has a green eye... Nothing I could think of creative to make that mistake go away. So, live with a green eye she must. And so must eye! I mean, I! Love that Websters tulle in the background. Getting it down on the paper without obvious adhesive lines was tricky!

The tree trunk was made with rolled up paper that I wrapped in Scor-Tape then with twine from The Twinery. It's the perfect finishing touch! A few ornaments and some garland would have looked cute on the tree but I already had a ton of bulk on the page and decided against further embellishment. Sometimes simple is the way to go!!

Sketch Support Dec 2 pg

Hey everybody!! December 16th?!! Christmas is just over a week away... Crazy!... Insane! Are you ready?

Another great two page sketch up at Sketch Support this week. I have become a Friday gal over there. Can't "do" it as Allison has it mapped out, have to show my unique self! LOL!! I love the cluster of Christmas trees but just couldn't see having that "dead" space on my layout. When I saw somebody had picutres IN the trees, a light bulb went off. Or a "duh" moment!! Why didn't I think of that!! So, to navigate my way around that, I did a single page using bits and pieces of the sketch. The right side alone reminded me of a sketch I'd already done. To keep things fresh and not repeat, I used the edge of the left hand page and 2/3's of the right hand page and squished them together. Make sense?

Love this line from Crate Paper! I have been saving it for our apple picking pictures. Mixed in a litte Jillibean Soup and it's a crisp, clean layout!!

The title had to go somewhere as I'd omitted that part of the sketch! Looks pretty good sitting down there with all the fallen apples doesn't it? Do you wonder what happens with all those apples or is it just me? Do they just become compost for next years fruit? Hmmm...

Sketch Support Dec Card

Yes, card. It is card week over at Sketch Support. At least, the sketch IS a card sketch.

Being the me that I am, I couldn't do that. My first thought when I saw the sketch was to use it as an embellished journaling spot. So, I did just that.

Every year one or some of us read this story, The Christmas Oranges, that Linda sent Michael and I WAY back when. For our first Christmas I believe... Last year brought the book all the way to Paris then onto Scotland to continue that tradition. Nikolas was old enough and interested in reading so he had his turn for the first time.

Love listening to the kid read. He has lots of inflection and passion in his voice when he does. You can tell from listening and watching him that he loves to read. He loves the stories, the excitment, the suspense. To gues what is going to happen next.

One tree was good but two is better! These are chipboard trees from Me & My Big Ideas that I further embellished. Hung a few ornaments with care and carefully wrapped some garland! Even put a star atop one of them. A few pressies underneath the trees!

I hope you are having FUN this Christmas season and enjoying each a every moment leading up to it!

Sketch Support 1 pg

Another week another fantastic Sketch Support sketch!! Be sure to check out the sketch over here, print it out and see when you come up with!!

I had done a sketch very similar to this one for Stuck?! so trying to be original on my interpretation took some doing. Once I chose the background paper the rest fell into place, simple! This tree paper from LYB just makes me happy. As do these pictures! These were taking a few months ago, hiking in the Shenandoahs just after the hurricane.

Nikolas' teeth are really straightening out and that smile is beginning to come together again! I still get lost in those big brown eyes of his. He can't hide a thing, every little thought sits there for the world to see. A good egg this boy is!

Follow along this week! I know a lot of you will be busy with Thanksgiving and family and what not but try and pop in for a visit!

Sketch Support Nov Add-On

When this sketch appeared in my inbox I thought, huh? I had other things to do so put it in the "to do" pile and moved on. When it resurfaced, I again thought, ughhh, what am I going to do with this? Now that it's finished, I truly think that this is one of my very favoritist layouts I've done. Ever. Be sure to print out the sketch over at Sketch Support and let's see what you can do with it!

I made the leaves by first punching out the oak leaf using a McGill punch. I then covered 1/4 inch strips of Scor-Tape with glitter and layed them down side by side on the punched out pieces of paper. I trimmed the excess and viola! A shiny bright glittery fall leaf to toss in the air with gay abandon!

Can't believe that the year with Sketch Support is almost over... I have been so incredibly inspired by Allison's fantastic sketches. It's been a fantastic journey. One more month and then... Who knows?!

Sketch Support Nov 2 pg

My super star playing soccer with her fellow Hermit Crabs. Most of the paper and embellishments are Little Yellow Bicycle, there are a few pieces that aren't. It needed some extra color. I just LOVE that chipboard piece from Creek Bank Creations. A fantastic find while up at GASC with Kyla. I just painted it white and left it, it didn't need anything else.

These banners from LYB are fun! They add such movement to the page!
